Go Mobile - It's a Concept not a Car!

The GO Mobile is not a vehicle in a traditional sense, but a low-center of gravity, modular, shooting platform system that can operate safely with multiple crew members at high speeds. That’s a mouthful, but the point is, this system can be transformed into almost any configuration to accommodate your imagination. The reason it is so amazingly versatile is that it is comprised of three interchangeable parts that can be configured in a wide variety of ways to maximize shot versatility. Below, each part will be individually described to give you a sense of how it has worked in the past. How it will work in the future is up to you.

Front Clip

Part I - Front Clip

The Front Clip is the engine housing, drive train and essential elements necessary to propel the GO Mobile down the roads of your choice. Here Will Smith's Mustang GT from the film I am Legend has been attached to the Front Clip. Note the Mustang has been cut at the firewall so that it could be bolted directly to the Front Clip.

Driver's Pod

Part II. - Driver's Pod

The Driver's Pod is the capsule from which the stunt driver steers the GO Mobile. Here it is (from the film I am Legend) seen mounted on the passenger side to open shots to the driver's side. However, it can be mounted on either side, in front or even on top to open the vehicle to unlimited shooting potential.

Cargo

Part III. - Cargo

The GO Mobile Cargo can be almost anything you want to pull or push. Any variation or part of a car body, truss rig, shooting platform or altered camera vehicle can be bolted directly to the Front Clip and driven from the Driver's Pod. In the photo to the left, a cut-down SUV from the film The Kingdom is being pulled by the GO Mobile with a single racing seat set for a cameraman.

Cargo Option 1

The ADV is used when the Director wants to establish a driver to pavement relationship. Camera, lighting and sound can all be moved in close to the windshield. To the left is a variation that was used in the film Crank.

Cargo/Buck Variation

Cargo Option 2. - The Buck

The Buck is a vehicle that has been cut down to open-up a particular shot or shots. Then it's bolted to a shooting platform that can accommodate a wide variety of equipment and crew, and pulled by the Front Clip. Here is a variation used in filming The Bourne Supremacy. Note, the passenger side firewall and windshield have been removed for tight interior shots, and a windscreen has been added.

Cargo Option 3 / Shooting Platform

Cargo Option 3. Shooting Platform

Another common use of the GO Mobile is as a high speed shooting platform. Again, the rig can be put together in an almost unlimited number of ways with both equipment and crews safely secured. Here a GO Mobile special truss rig has been used to drag Johnny Knoxville down the highway in the film The Dukes of Hazzard.

Cargo Option 4 / SEV

Cargo Option 4 - Special Effects Variation

A Special Effects Variation can be created with an almost unlimited number of possibilities. Here the General Lee from the film The Dukes of Hazzard has been canted on its side to create the illusion of driving on two wheels.

Cargo Option 5 / ADV

Cargo Option 5 - 15 Foot Technocrane

To the left, a 15' Technocrane is used in combination with an ADV of a HUM V for the film Déjà vu.

Cargo Option 6 - 30 Foot Technocrane

Here the GO Mobile in a shooting platform configuration chases Dwayne Johnson’s cab in the film Race to Witch Mountain.
